BLM Outcome-Based Grazing Proposal Deadline – Oct. 27
Posted on: Oct 12, 2017
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has created a new initiative to provide grazing permit holders additional flexibility in how they manage livestock. In the first year of this new innovative program, the BLM will work with permittees and stakeholders to identify 6 to 12 “Outcome-Based Grazing Authorizations.” In addition to the traditional process and prescription components of BLM grazing plans, the new authorizations will emphasize ecological outcomes allowing operators flexibility to adjust grazing plans to respond to changing conditions like drought and wildland fire. The new initiative aims to take a new approach at balancing natural resource and operational objectives. The BLM is soliciting project proposals through its state offices through October 27, 2017.
