In our local paper, the Buffalo Bulletin, this week the front page article titled "More the merrier with Meadowood Ranch" by Chuck Carlson held a much more pertinent topic than its title may have suggested. The article talked about the idea of a conservation easement being forever. In the article Carlson states, "For now, Meadowood Ranch remains part of an intriguing political and environmental tug of war. Seven years after the Johnson County Commissioners, acting as the Scenic Preservation Trust board, removed what was supposed to be a permanent conservation easement on more than 1,000 acres of land on Clear Creek outside Buffalo and opened up the question of what "forever" really means, the battle continues in court and among legal scholars."
