Rotational Grazing
Rotational grazing is in essence a systematic way to move herds; with the intent being maximizing fresh pasture while allowing for others to recover and increase productivity.
Rotational grazing is a beneficial way to manage your grassland. We found a brochure by Penn State's Agriculture department to be very helpful. In it they state "Using your land resources to develop a pasture system that fits in with your total animal, forage, and crop program is an important first step in pasture management. A major goal is to provide quality pasture for the grazing animals throughout the grazing season." The brochure also provides information to help attain rotational grazing goals. Rotational grazing may seem complicated and it is a good idea to weigh in with an expert if you are unsure about how to start your padlock system. Responsibly managing your property and grassland increases the potential value of your property and when you are ready to sell you can rest easy that you have been a good steward of your land.
